last week, we got a group together and finally crossed something off my chicago bucket list that’s been on there for a while - kayak the river!
we did the fireworks paddle with kayak chicago.
jason and i got a double kayak (mainly because i knew there would be at least a few moments where i would take just a teeny break). it was a great team-building exercise and i only swore at him approximately 72 times.
we kayaked about 3.5 miles to the lakefront, saw the fireworks, and paddled back. i learned a few things that i will now impart to you regarding this activity:
- go when it’s warm, you will get wet and then you will be cold
- saturday afternoon is probably a more ideal time to go than wednesday evening after work until 11pm. (that’s right, 7-11pm)
- your arms will be tired
overall, definitely a must do for chicagoans (at least once) - i would be up for the architectural kayak tour on a day like today!
